Christmas Wreath

Needed something cute for our front door... something cute... and cheap would be even better. So I hit up Savers for a wreath that I could work with. Found a simple brown twig-ish wreath. Wrapped it with some pine-greenery. Made a smaller wreath to go in the center (using a wire hanger and scraps of fabric that I had). Tied some ornaments on (also found at Savers) and made a little wooden sign to add to it.
I loved how it turned out. The only thing I'd do different / need to fix for next year - those darn ornaments kept falling off and breaking on the cold ground.

Stocking Holder

If I had the money I'd buy a cricket or something that could cut all the fun vinyl letters that I'm seeing everywhere these days... but I don't have that kind of money, so improvise I must do. Got this little piece of artwork at D.I. the other day (it had some kinda nursery rhyme and baby art on it)... Just needed some paint and some new wording and it'd be great to hang out stockings on over our fireplace...Merry Christmas!

Turkey TShirt

The kiddo has to have something cute to wear to all her Thanksgiving Dinners. This plain white Tshirt from Walmart turned out way cuter than I thought. And even better - I used stuff we already had at home - total cost of this project: FREE!

 {I used a plain white long-sleeved tshirt; added some fabric, ribbon, buttons and a little fabric paint. Super cute! GOBBLE. GOBBLE.}
Happy Thanksgiving!

Wooden Turkey

I saw a similar turkey on someone's blog (I can't remember whose? sorry). Theirs was cute, but I wanted mine to be a little larger and have more feathers and such. Super easy project (I made one and then had a little craft day with my mom and little girl to make more).
Really cute addition to my Thanksgiving decor.
{supplies needed for this project: Wood (body), wooden paint stir stick (neck/head), Jumbo craft sticks (feathers), random scrapbook paper, ink & modgepodge (feathers, beak, 'gobbler'), ribbon, acrylic paint and wood glue}

Hair Clippy Holder

If your little girl(s) is anything like mine, she probably has a million hair clippies. I am constantly making them – so we have A TON!! I needed somewhere to put our favorites and also needed some more decorations for the kiddo’s bedroom.
One day I was at Savers  ( I like thrift stores, can ya tell?) and found one of those wooden calendar holder- things. I popped out the calendar that was from the 80’s and painted the wood. Added a little batting, fabric and cris-crossed some ribbon. Wahlah!!

Halloween Costumes 2010

We decided on a ToyStory theme for our costumes this year. The Hubs and I were Woody and Jessie. The kiddo and her cabbage patch doll were BoPeep and A Sheep. Even our hamster had a matching costume – she was the PiggyBank (not show here).
Ham, our hamster didn’t like her costume much – I think she got claustrophobic! Her costume was one of those little, pink, plastic piggy banks you get at the dollar store – but she was sure cute for the whole 5 seconds she was in it.

Art for Grandma's House

Grandma needed some artwork for her kitchen. I had the kiddo draw each member of our family (LtoR: kiddo, daddy, mommy, Gpa, Gma, aunt, uncle, aunt, uncle's dog). I got a horriblly-ugly framed picture at DI and went to work. Spray painted the ugly-gold/brass frame, then painted the red border. Painted over the ugly winter/lake scene and repainted it with kiddo's family portrait. This piece of art now hangs on Grandma/Grandpa's kitchen wall.

Dear Future Reader(s),

Welcome. I hope you will enjoy the time you spend here at this blog. I know I will. It'll be a scrapbook of sorts for me - of all the projects that I try to cram into my sometimes hectic life. {But oh, do I love my hectic life!!}
Let me introduce myself. I am Megan; you can call me Meg. I have a couple of jobs that keep me busy in the real world and I am also a wife, mom, daugther, sister, friend, etc. that keeps me busy the rest of the time. I am married to the cutest, sweetest, most supportive guy around and have the most adorable little girl (we hope to have more kiddos just as cute as her someday).
I have always enjoyed being creative. Both my parents are crafty people in their own ways. My mom and dad can make anything! I am so lucky to have some of their creative genes. Creating things relaxes me. It's a part of me that I can't ignore. I can 'feel' when it's been too long since my last project... I start to get ansy and I've just got to make a mess doing something. Oh, yeah - me and messes... lets just say I LOVE MESSES! (making them that is, I don't enjoy cleaning them up as much - but few people do right?)
I am so grateful for my family and their willingness to let me indulge myself in this crafting addition that I have. They don't complain when the living room is a mess, the dishes are un-done, the clean laundry is still in the baskets waiting to be folded or when they have to fend for themselves for dinner cuz I'm crafting! I am truly blessed. Couldn't do any of it without them. But don't feel too bad for them... I promise, they are often the beneficiaries of my projects. Our little girl is freakin' spoiled, is all I have to say... it's so fun to make cute things for her and I love the stage she's at where she thinks it's fun to have Mommy make her things. I'm dreading the day when I'm no longer ''cool'' to her.
Well, enough about me. Onto the blog - I hope to share on this blog, my creations. I'll be honest, not all are things I come up with. I get 'inspiration' from all over. I love cruising blog-land and seeing all the fun stuff all the other crafty ladies are up to. They are amazing! I'll admit, I copy. If I see somethig cute out there - of course I gotta try and make it for me, right? However, I do try and give it my own spin. I'll try and give credit, if I know/remember where I saw the idea... but please forgive me if I can't. Feel free to copy any of my ideas too... that's what this blog is here for. I hope it gets your 'creative juices' flowing.
Oh yeah, and the name of this blog ("Look What I Can Do") comes from that gloriously funny character off MadTV - gotta love little Stewart! He cracks me up. If any of you have children (like me)  you know how they love to show off and I'm sure I am not the only one who has heard a little one come running so excited to show off something and exclaims, "Look What I Can Do!". {whenever I hear that, I think of goofy-Stewart and my sister who imitates him sometimes... ha ha... oh man, too funny!!} So here ya go, here's my new blog - all about showing off what I can do, and what you can do too!
